Tv Guide: NYPD Blue alum Sharon Lawrence will guest-star on Rizzoli & Isles as Maura's biological mother, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

Lawrence will appear in two episodes in Season 3 as Hope, who gave up Maura (Sasha Alexander) for adoption when she was 18 following her relationship with crime boss Paddy Doyle (John Doman). She's now a prominent doctor and an activist for women's health with secrets of her own... More here

7. Sasha Alexander, “Rizzoli and Isles,” TNT.

Alexander plays Isles, who’s buddies with Angie Harmon’s Rizzoli, and the show keeps the two parts well balanced.

Without taking anything away from the well-established Harmon, though, Alexander has in many ways become the more intriguing.

She seems to be this, yet there’s still a little of that. She uses big words, not a gun. She seems to be just plain nice, then sometimes she isn’t. She makes Isles more than she seems.
